Rich Man or Poor Man

"Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee , and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain."
Proverbs 30:7-9

There are many tests in life, and one of those tests may be that of poverty. If this is the case, the Lord has some great advice. Look at your poverty in the proper perspective. You are highly exalted in the Lord Jesus Christ, no matter how poor you are. When you are in Christ, you are richer than the richest man on earth who does not know Christ. From the Christian perspective, when you became saved, you went from rags to riches.

Sometimes it is better to be poor (monetarily speaking) than to be rich. We all know that it's hard to be poor, but it's harder to be rich. The rich man may have an easier time in life, but he will have a harder time passing the test.

It's not wrong to have money. Remember, it's not money that is the root to evil, but the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10). Nowhere does the Lord tell a rich man to renounce his riches . . . just to properly assess it. Some of God's saints were extremely wealthy; Abraham being a fine example of this. But one needs to see the riches from a proper perspective.
