In The Beginning

The first two chapters of the Bible describe how God created the universe and all that is in it.  From the biggest of the big to the smallest of the small, God created it all. Yet there are those who proclaim to be Christians that do not believe these first two chapters.

As with anything that you build, you need a strong foundation.  Jesus even talked about the benefit of having a strong foundation in Matthew 7:24-27.  The first two chapters of Genesis can be viewed as a Biblical foundation.  If one cannot believe that everything was created and formed within six literal 24-hour days, what is there to prevent us from believing the other stories of the Bible?

If the creation of the universe is nonsense, then what makes the parting of the Red Sea anymore believable? Or the Virgin birth? Or even the Resurrection?

All of this is based on faith.  The Bible tells us that it is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16), yet most people do not believe that it should be taken literally.  Why would God say one thing, but mean another?  If the inspired Word says that the sea parted, then the sea parted.  If the inspired Word says that Jesus was born of a virgin, then He was born of a virgin.  If the inspired Word says that Jesus rose from the dead, then He arose from the dead.

Many people don’t have a problem with these stories, but when the inspired Word says that the universe was formed in six days, then they say that that can’t be the truth.  Once we begin doubting the Word of God, then we set ourselves up for an attack from Satan.

That is what Satan wants us to do; doubt the Word of God.  He began this ploy with Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) and he continues with this same plan unto our present day.  He is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).  This is what he does, and we are falling right into his plan.

We need to believe what the Bible says, even if we can’t prove it or understand it:  For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).  We should not add to what the Bible has to say (Deuteronomy 4:2, 1 Corinthians 5:6 & Revelation 22:18), whether it is in word or in meaning.

Psalms 119:160 tells us that God’s “word is true from the beginning (emphasis added) and in Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God is pure.”  We must start believing this.

Christians say that they believe the Bible, then BELIEVE IT!  There is no gap of millions of years between the first two verses of the Bible.  The days in question do not represent eons.

Don’t let Satan win this battle.  Have a little faith, and believe in the Lord your God.
