God's Pardon

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Matthew 26:28

God has made a way for us to come to Him, and that is through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is through the blood, which Jesus shed for our sins, that we are saved. It is through His blood that we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:14).

We have been pardoned for our sins.

In 1829, George Wilson was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to hang. Some friends of Wilson petitioned President Andrew Jackson for a pardon, and it was granted. However, to many people’s surprise, Wilson refused the pardon.

No one had ever refused a pardon before, so no one knew what to do. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court, where Justice John Marshall gave this ruling: “A pardon is a piece of paper, the value of which depends upon the acceptance by the person implicated. If he does not accept the pardon, then he must be executed.”

God has provided a pardon for you. He has provided a way out. If you refuse this pardon, then you will die and go to hell.

Charles Spurgeon (1834 – 1892) once said, “Christ’s blood was not shed for the handful of apostles alone. There were but eleven of them who really partook of the blood symbolized by the cup. The Savior does not say, ‘This is my blood which is shed for you, the favored eleven;’ but ‘shed for many.’”

Salvation is a free gift. “It is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).

Receive the free gift of His forgiveness today. Believe on the atoning work of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Being good doesn’t get you to heaven.

Jesus does.
